El Torro, CA at Delaware Valley (2010 Varsity)
On Friday, September 03 2010 at 1 p.m., the DV Warriors beat El Torro, CA by a score of 27 - 12.
Under the threat of Hurricane Earl, the Warriors faced off against the El Torro Chargers in Boston for thier season opener. But it was the Warriors that were the force to be reckoned with as they took the Chargers by storm. Del Vals Division 1 prospect, Brandon (Big Daddy)Clemons, set the tone with a 4yd loss for the Chargers on thier first play and followed up with a fumble recovery, turning possession over to the Warriors.
On El Torro's next possession, DV line backer Chris Cohen, had an interception, returning it 30 yards to set up the Warriors on the El Torro 20 yard line. Del Val's RB Jeremy Reynlods punched the ball into the endzone for a Warrior TD! Joe Hunt kicks the extra point to give Del Val a 7-0 lead.
El Torro answers back on thier next possession with a 55 yd. touch down pass caught by Ryan Lewis. Clemons blocks the extra point ending the quarter 7-6, DV.
During the second quarter, a strong drive downfield by the Warriors leads to a 7 yd. run into the end zone by DV's Martin Strenk. Extra point, no good.
El Torro's Wes Harris made history in White Stadium with a 55 yard field goal, the longest ever in the Stadiums history.
With seconds left in the half, Harris backed up his history making kick with a 53 yard field goal to end the half 13-12, Del Val.
On the Warriors opening drive in the second half, Brian Schor completes a 48 yard pass to TE Connor Decker, setting up a 15 yard TD run by Chris Cohen. Joe Hunt kicks the extra point.
The Warrior defense shut down the El Torro offense in the second half.
Schor completes a 29 yard TD pass to Kyle Zimnick, to seal the Warrior victory. Extra point good.
