North Pocono at Delaware Valley (2010 Varsity)
On Friday, October 08 2010 at 7 p.m., the DV Warriors beat North Pocono by a score of 20 - 12.
Shaking off back to back losses, the Warriors were looking for a win against North Pocono.
DV won the coin toss and deferred to receive in the second half.
The Warrior defense was in top form and effectively ended the Trojans first drive by recovering a fumble.
A 55 yd pass to Connor Decker puts DV in Trojan territory.
Bryan Schor looks downfield and finds Jeremy Reynolds open. Jeremy makes the catch but fumbles on the 2 yd line! The ball rolls into the endzone and is recovered by Connor Decker for a TD! Extra point, good.
Into the second quarter, the Warriors march downfield. With the ball spotted on the 1 yd line, Chris Cohen runs in another DV touchdown!
Joe Hunt kicks the extra point.
North Pocono's QB, Jack Williams, completes a 45 yd pass to Frankie DiPietro and the Trojans are in position to score on DV's 15.
The Warrior defense tightens up. Jeremy Reynolds tackles Greg Sporko for a loss of 8. Marc Wagner makes another tackle for a loss and North Pocono is facing 4th and 16.
A pass interference call gives the Trojans a second chance, but good defense by Mark Ranaudo results in a fumbled snap and the Warriors take possession with 4 seconds left in the half.
Schor takes a knee and the Warriors head to the locker room up 14-0.
The 3rd quarter is scoreless. DV makes an attempt at a 35 yd field goal but the kick went wide of the uprights.
DV's defense immobilizes North Pocono's offense as the 3rd quarter draws to a close.
Early in the fourth, the Warriors move back into Trojan territory. Bryan Schor hands off to Chris Cohen who sets his sights on the endzone, breaking tackles on a 28 yd touchdown run!
Joe Hunt, set to kick the extra point, keeps a level head as the snap is bobbled. Hunt scooped up the ball and runs for a 2 point conversion but is brought up short of the goal line.
On the ensuing kick off, North Pocono's, Nick Bell returns the kick for a TD. The extra point is no good.
The Trojans would score again with Williams completing a TD pass to Bell. Extra point, no good and the scoreboard reads 20-12 with under three minutes to play.
The intensity increases as Schor's pass intended for Bobby Morely is intercepted.
With the clock counting down to less than two minutes, the Trojans are looking to close the gap with 3rd and goal.
Williams pass is incomplete and brings up 4th and goal. The Trojans attempt another pass, but it's picked off by Marc Wagner and the Warriors win it 20-12!
Hats off to our safetys Marc Wagner and John Harsch! Great pass coverage, some game saving tackles and Marc's interception helped to put this one away for the Warriors.
