Delaware Valley at Island Coast (2011 Varsity)

On Friday, September 02 2011 at midnight, the DV Warriors beat Island Coast by a score of 24 - 14.

Not even the aftermath of Hurricane Irene could dampen the spirits of the Warriors when they got word that the Florida trip was ON!!

The start of school was delayed, thousands of homes were without power, roads were closed, rivers were rising and the team waited for news about whether or not they would be leaving for their much anticipated Disney trip.
Many members of our team found it challenging to even get news due to the widespread power outages.

The team left DV early Wednesday morning heading for Disney where there was sunshine, electricity and thier season opener to be played in Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Stadium!
DV pulled out the win over the Gators 24-14.

Junior RB Martin Strenk scored twice for the Warriors. QB Brian Schor completed a TD pass to John Harsch and Joe Hunt kicked a field goal to bring home the win for the Warriors.

After a successful drive in the first quarter leading to a 1 yd TD run by the Gators, the Warrior defense turned up the heat with 2 fumble recoveries in the first quarter and sealed the game with an interception with only minutes left in the game.

Martin Strenk was awarded the Offensive MVP award and Jack Fagan the Defensive MVP award.
The team had a great time exploring the parks during their stay in Disney and even got to visit Universal Studios.

The Warriors arrived back home to find the lights back on and school in session.
They will be busy getting back into the routine and practicing hard preparing for their next game this friday against the East Stroudsburg Cavilliers.
Hope to see you at the game!
