Valley View at Delaware Valley (2011 Varsity)

On Friday, October 14 2011 at 7 p.m., the DV Warriors lost to Valley View by a score of 7 - 21.

The undefeated Warriors played the undefeated Valley View Cougars at home Friday night in a much anticipated game to decide who would take first place in the Lackawanna League.

The Warriors won the toss and opted to receive in the second half.

Valley View scored twice in the first quarter giving them a 14-0 lead over Delaware Valley.

Cougar Running Back, Tyler Phillips, scored again for Valley View in the second quarter. The Warriors trailed Valley View 21-0 at the half.

During the third quarter, DV’s Martin Strenk, powered his way down the field on a strong series of runs that landed DV on the Cougars 8 yard line. Brian Schor, looking for a man open in the end zone can’t find an open receiver and ran the ball in to put DV on the board. Joe Hunt kicked in the extra point.

The Warrior defense was not going to give up the fight. Jack Fagan recovered a fumble but the Warriors were unable to score.

Late in the fourth quarter the Cougars marched downfield to the 1 yard line. With DV’s cheerleaders leading the chant “Hold That Line”, the Warrior defense, won the goal line stand off with just under two minutes left to play preventing another VV touchdown.

Valley View got the win 21-7.
